Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a free trial?
Yes. Growth subscribers get a 14-day free trial with full access — no credit card required to start. If your disaster just happened, we want you focused on recovery, not payment forms. Starter plans have a 7-day trial.
Can I switch plans mid-claim?
Yes — you can upgrade from Starter to Growth at any time and your advocate is assigned within one business day. If your claim settles and you no longer need full advocacy, you can downgrade without losing your documents or claim history.
How does Bright Harbor handle sensitive documents like my policy and tax records?
All documents are encrypted with AES-256 at rest and in transit. We do not sell or share your data with any third party, including insurers. You can export or permanently delete your entire file at any time from the dashboard. Our infrastructure runs on AWS us-east-1 with daily encrypted backups.
Is Bright Harbor a public adjuster?
No. We are not a licensed public adjusting firm and we don't take a percentage of your settlement. Our advocates provide documentation, guidance, and negotiation support — and when a situation requires a licensed PA, we connect you to vetted professionals in your state at no referral fee.
How long does a typical recovery case take?
It depends on the disaster type and insurer. Straightforward water damage claims with full documentation typically settle in 60-90 days. Wildfire and hurricane losses with structural damage can take 12-18 months through the full rebuild. Our platform supports you across the entire timeline — you pay only for the months you need active support.
What states do you currently operate in?
Our platform tools are available nationwide. Dedicated advocate services are currently active in Colorado, California, Texas, Florida, Louisiana, and Washington. We're expanding to 10 additional states in 2025. Residents in other states can use Starter tools and receive referrals to local advocates.
